Civic Leadership Award Honoree 2014

Cheryl Phillips

Cheryl Phillips-Thill dedicates her time and support to improve threes main areas in our community: women’s health, education and animal welfare.

Ms. Phillips-Thill serves on the Board of Trustees of the Oakwood Healthcare System, Quality Committee and Women’s Health Advisory Committee; organizations that care for women - the caretakers of the family - as well as provide excellence in care, healing and health to all the individuals and communities they serve.

Ms. Phillips-Thill, an adjunct professor for the University of Michigan, dedicates her time to improving education in our area and teaching courses on Strategic Sourcing, which not only provide in-depth analysis of the procurement process, supplier management, and managing a supplier base for commodities, products and services, but emphasize ethical practices to ensure people do not exploit each other, animals or the planet in sourcing decisions.

As an active volunteer, animal advocacy and Humane education is the cause closest to her heart. “It is critical for children and adults alike to understand the need to treat all living creatures with respect, responsibility and compassion,” said Cheryl; and her conviction is demonstrated by her tireless work with the Humane Society of Huron Valley, Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter, and many other respectable animal welfare organizations.
